- 5 New Works from German retreat - coming to MusicaNeo soon.
The results of two months in Spain and Germany:
• From 14 concerts in the first 5 weeks, my playing took a leap
• From 3 great lessons with my long time teacher in Wurzburg, my singing took a leap
• I got back to composing on a regular basis for the first time in five years! I wrote five new works and did an an arrangement of an older piece:
⁃ Gargoyles for 2 mandolins and guitar (Mare Duo)
⁃ More Gargoyles for guitar trio (Mobius Trio)
⁃ several short guitar solos for the Beatty Competition
⁃ "like black snow" on three poems by my son Gus for voice and guitar
⁃ arranged New England Quartets for 2 mandolins, mandola and guitar (Mare Duo)
⁃ started another song for voice, clarinet and guitar, also on poetry by Gus
• I played duets with Jan Bartlema and recorded 10 pieces, five by Jan and 5 by me
• I recorded a CD of my works for mandolin and guitar with Mare Duo and their colleagues in Wuppertal Germany
• I am negotiating commissions for a mandolin concerto and a mandolin solo
